Step Out In Red Carpet Style!

It’s that time of year again... awards season. The time when we religiously await red carpet images to see what our favourite celebrities have chosen to wear for the occasion.

From the Oscars to the Golden Globes, at this time of year the social calendars of the rich and famous are buzzing with activity and that means one thing… a whole host of glamorous red carpet looks to draw inspiration from, and the very latest style, hair, and makeup trends.

But, when it comes to achieving looks that are worthy of red carpet status, it’s not as hard as you might think. Ok, you might not have an army of stylists at your disposable, but invest in the right products and apply the right techniques, and you really can achieve red carpet style at home.

So to kick things off, we’ve revealed some our favourite make up tricks, which will allow you to embrace red carpet glamour this award’s season…

Beautiful Glowing Skin

Have you ever noticed that the majority of A-list celebrities who step out onto the red carpet have beautiful radiant skin? Recognised as the ultimate red carpet accessory, a glowing complexion, is an absolute must for any celebrity stepping out into the spotlight.

The good news is that you can also achieve the ultimate red carpet glow, if you apply these simple steps.

Firstly, begin by exfoliating, cleansing, toning and moisturising your skin. Prepping is everything when it comes to laying the foundations for beautiful skin, so it should be high on your list of priorities.

Next, use an aluminising foundation to achieve a fresh, glowing, and healthy complexion – this is a makeup box staple that we simply couldn’t live without. There are lots of options out there but if you’re unsure what to use, Armani’s Luminous Silk is always our failsafe product.

It’s super easy to apply too. Simply apply the product and buff it gently into the skin to achieve optimum results - our BASE Pro Artists Buff Brush is great for this!

It’s All In The Eyes

To achieve a classic red carpet look, opt for a smokey eye, which is conveniently set to be huge this SS16. After all, when teamed with indulgent gowns, exquisite diamonds and skyscraper heels, a sexy smoked out eye screams red carpet luxe and glamour.

This season’s interpretation of the smokey eye, is all about keeping things simple. But that doesn’t mean you need to compromise on impact – far from it!

All you’ll need is a kohl liner and some natural fake lashes. Take your kohl liner and push the product right into the lashes. Once you’ve applied the liner, it’s time to gently smoke it out using a defining brush. We’d recommend the BASE Pro Artists brush - it’s great for getting right into the lash line.

To finish, curl your lashes, add a good coat of mascara and some natural fake lashes, and you’re good to go!

Cheeky Highlights

If you’re trying to achieve high impact, red carpet glamour, a good highlighter is a must.

We swear by Kevin Aucoin’s The Celestial Powder – Candlelight. To apply this product, we’d recommend using the BASE Pro Highlighter brush to blend the product gently onto the skin, into the bridge of your nose and cheekbones.

The Red Lip

No red carpet look would be complete without the addition of a red lip! The key here is to remember to choose a shade that accentuates your skin tone.

So if you have bronzed skin, opt for orange/red tones and if you have paler skin, blue-based reds are perfect for creating an intense look that screams red carpet glamour.

There you have it, our ultimate guide on how to step out in red carpet style this award’s season. We’d love to see how you get on, so don’t forget to share you pictures with us!
