3 Ways To Shake Up Your Makeup Routine

Here at BASE Pro Artists we are strong believers in New Year’s resolutions, especially when it comes to adopting an ‘out with the old and in with the new attitude’ to the year ahead! After all, the New Year is the perfect opportunity to embrace new beginnings, learn, grow, and step out of your comfort zone. There really is nothing more liberating that trying new things, experimenting with the way you look, and making positive changes that will enhance your general wellbeing and outlook on life.

With this in mind, the New Year is also a great time to switch up your makeup box, discover new and exciting products, and transform your makeup regime.

After all, it’s all too easy to get fixated on using the same products day after day. Steering away from the makeup box staples that have been part and parcel of your daily routine for years and years can be a great way of enhancing your make up collection, whilst opening your eyes to all manner of exciting new looks.

After all, makeup is all about experimenting. Here are some of the products that we’ll be integrating into our beauty routines in 2016…

Makeup prep and removal

Prepping your skin before applying your makeup [nb1] and removing it at the end of the day should always be an integral part of your daily routine! Ensuring that you prep and cleanse your skin before and after applying your favourite products will have a huge impact on the look and feel of your skin – trust us.

And this also means investing in a good moisturiser, particularly during the winter months when your skin is prone to dryness. So, if you’re still using the moisturiser you used as a teen, try looking for a moisturiser which is hydrating and packed full of natural ingredients. Here at BASE Pro HQ we love the Kiel’s Ultra Facial Moisturiser, it’s fantastic for soothing the skin and ensuring that silky smooth, dewy finish stays with you.

Make It Pop - Eyeshadows

When it comes to experimenting with makeup, not many of us like to step out of our comfort zone, meaning that our makeup boxes often consist of the same ‘failsafe’ products we’ve used for years and years – can you relate to this?

This particularly applies to eye shadow - once we’ve found the perfect shade and brand, many of us won’t deter from what we know and love. But this year, step away from neutral tones and by experimenting with new, confident colours that will really make your eyes pop.

Check out the colour wheel and inject a new spectrum of colour into your makeup box. And remember, if you’re looking to a bold statement, pick out colours that are opposite to your eye-colour.

So, if you have:

Blue eyes – opt for bronze tones and warmer shades

Green eyes – opt for purple, copper and burgundy tones

Brown eyes – different shades of blue and purple will really make your eyes pop!

Bare All - Blush

Blusher is a great way of adding natural, understated colour to your face. But rather than sticking to the flat powder based products you’ve used for years and years, why not try out a cream blush?

Perfect for adding an instant dose of dewy colour to your skin, cream blushes are available in a wide range of colour shades and are great for brightening your skin, particularly during the colder months.
